Giclée ( pronounced jhee-clay ) is the term for the latest generation of fine art reproduction. It means “to spurt” in French and comes from the fact that a giclée printer is basically an inkjet printer taken to the extreme.
Giclees are printed with a microscopic sized dot pattern allowing for virtual continuous tone printing on archival surfaces such as fine art paper or canvas, resulting in the absolute highest quality print imaginable aka museum-quality art print.
The Color Proof Edition is the first physical edition of an artwork originally created on iPad. It is printed using the same fine-art inkjet process as the Giclée edition, but on semi-gloss photo paper rather than archival fine art paper. This edition preserves the original digital color output while offering a different surface and finish from the subsequent Giclée edition.
Except for Color Proof (CP) prints, framing is not included in the listed price of artworks, including original paintings, drawings, and Giclée prints.
